In a new development in the line of international mediation, Iran submitted its response to the American proposal aimed at ending the war through the Pakistani mediator, amid anticipation of the course of the negotiations in the next stage.
Iranian media reported on Sunday that “Tehran sent its response to the American proposal to the Pakistani mediator, as part of the ongoing efforts to find a settlement to the crisis.” The reports indicated that “the negotiations will focus at this stage on the mechanisms for implementing the proposed plan to end the war, ensuring that an agreement is reached in accordance with clear understandings between the parties concerned.” This step comes in light of continuing regional tensions and the interest of the international community to stop military operations and ensure security in the region, especially after the recent escalation in the Strait of Hormuz and potential threats to maritime security.
Under the proposal, “the United States will lift its sanctions on Iran and unfreeze Iranian funds estimated at billions of dollars, while both sides lift restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
The proposal also includes "declaring the end of the war in the region and starting a 30-day period of negotiations on a detailed agreement to open the strait, limit Iran's nuclear program, and lift US sanctions. The negotiations could take place in Islamabad or Geneva."
